Anybody want to go in on this with me? I’ve got about thirty-seven cents and a few empty bottles that can be recycled.

Heidi ho, good neighbors! The Meta Bard is back with a long overdue post. My apologies to all my readers out there! The last post I wrote, I was half asleep and the hell hounds were on my trail. I wanted to go down to the crossroads but I only got the devil’s voice mail. In addition to that, my first book of collected poetry has come out. It is called ‘Beautiful Tyrants‘ and is now available on Lulu.com. I’ve been running around all weekend promoting it and doing signings. I am also in the process of planning an official release party. I was trying to book Madison Square Garden but it turns out they don’t take food stamps. It might have to be a cookout in the DSS parking lot again but we’ll see. You already know The Meta Bard is the hardest working man in cyberspace. Stay tuned for more details, folks.
I started to touch on some things in the last post that I’d like to get into more here. Let’s talk about big, red balls. No, I’m not going to discuss baboon anatomy but rather the great planet of Mars. Curiosity, the most advanced piece of machinery put on a planet by NASA, has made its landing on the red planet. I mentioned in my last post that the conspiracy rumors are spreading on the heels of this historic occasion. If we are going to go into this line of thinking let’s consider a couple of things. First, Jet Propulsion Laboratories, who are the “lead U.S. center for robotic exploration of the solar system” and thus involved in the Curiosity mission, have had quite a relationship with occultists. For those who don’t know, I’m not talking about the scientists hanging out with Ms. Cleo types. I am talking about the fact that some of those scientists were also occultists, the most notable would be Jack Parsons. Yes, the same Jack Parsons who helped found JPL and whose rocket research propelled us into the space age. Parsons was an avid student of Aleister Crowley and didn’t see any contradictions or conflicts between his scientific research and his occult studies. He was even appointed the head of the Agape lodge by Crowley himself in 1942. It was said the he invoked a hymn to the god Pan before every test launch. Parsons was also involved with L. Ron Hubbard, science fiction writer and founder of the cult of Scientology, in the Babalon Working, which is an extremely complicated magickal ritual that was meant to evoke The Scarlet Woman. This goddess is the personification of the female sexual impulse and the mother of the earth. Working sex magick and making breakthroughs in rocket science, all in a day’s work for good old Jack Parsons. Unfortunately things didn’t end well for Jacky. His good friend L. Ron Hubbard ended up running off with Parson’s wife, Sara Northrup (Name sound familiar? No? How about if I say Northrup-Grumman?), and Parsons’ money. Messed up right? Well, if you look at all the crap that Scientologists pull these days, it’s no surprise that their science fiction author and founder (who had ties to the CIA) was an unscrupulous fellow. As if that wasn’t bad enough, poor old Jack ended up dying from wounds inflicted by an explosion of chemicals at his home. Some people say he was working on fulfilling a contract with a special effects firm, some say he was working a magickal ritual, some say that he got whacked out by the government. If you want to get deeper into the story of Jack Parsons, check out Peter Lavenda’s excellently researched trilogy of books called Sinister Forces. I can’t recommend this trilogy enough. I have been reading conspiracy books for 15 years, there’s not much out there that I don’t know about. These three books blew me away. They cover Parsons, Charles Manson, the JFK assassination, wandering bishops, mind control, and almost everything else you can think of and the relationships between all of these seemingly unconnected events and people. Secondly, click here to read a very interesting short article about Mars in myth and occult philosophy. As the article states, Mars has been associated with the lord of the underworld and also connected with such dangers as infectious disease, fire, and warfare. I’d say disease, fire, and warfare pretty much describes our world today. Is NASA doing something else up there besides collecting rock samples? What if the line of occult tradition didn’t die out with Jack Parsons? After all, some of NASA’s earliest scientists were Nazis imported into the United States via the CIA’s Operation Paperclip and Nazism is, at its very heart, an occult society. Could there be an occult aspect to NASA’s space missions that continues to this day?
There are also those who insist that Mars have something else to offer besides rock samples and possible water. Folks like Richard Hoagland talk about a face, cities, and other evidence of a lost civilization on Mars. Some people say that these missions are an attempt to study these mysterious monuments. I have a personal anecdote about the face and the pyramids on Mars. While I was living down in Florida, I had a very good friend who was once in the military. He was a Green Beret and served in both Afghanistan and Iraq. He was managing a chain gas station/convenience store when I met him through a mutual friend. We shared a love of music and the process of making it and became fast friends. I remember one time we were sitting around at my place drinking beers and having a cyph. My Green Beret friend, after getting a little loose, decided to start telling us stories of his time in the military. He said he was telling us these things because, even though he wasn’t supposed to, he didn’t care about keeping secrets for the government. He didn’t care about the government, period. He always said he was a hood dude and if they decided to come after him for spilling secrets he would use his training to take them out. Then he went on to tell us about how he was part of a series of teams that were sent down to Colombia for the express purpose of burning down the coca fields and shutting down the refining labs. He said the first time they secured a lab, the commander went over to a table that was piled high with cocaine and proceeded to reenact the scene in Scarface when Pacino nose-dived into a pile of coke in front of him. And of course, the men took a few keys for themselves to smuggle back home and sell. After a couple more beers and a few pulls later, my Green Beret friend then asked us if we ever heard of the face or pyramids on Mars. He also asked if we had heard of Area 51. Our mutual friend and I both responded in the affirmative. The Green Beret told us that he had been to Area 51. He said the weirdest thing he saw were photos that he was shown of Mars. The photos did indeed depict a face and pyramids. Not only that but the pyramids and face were pointed towards the earth. He was told that there were going to be more missions to Mars in order to determine what the nature of the structures were. I think we all pretty much passed out after that. What I just wrote is a story and I don’t claim it to be more than that. Perhaps my Green Beret friend had one too many and decided to impress us. Or maybe, as he said, he was a hood dude and didn’t care about secrecy for the government. I’m just putting it out there for the public record. I’ll keep following the stories and photos being released from Curiosity. No matter what you believe might be the impetus for these missions to the Red Planet, it’s an interesting topic to follow.
Okay, time for me to wrap it up for today but before I go, I’d like to give some shout outs: Jamie Hamma and his band Abject. I can’t say enough good things about these guys. They are everything that New York Hardcore music is supposed to be. For those that don’t know, NYHC is very near and dear to my heart. I grew up with it, my the first local shows I started going to were hardcore shows. I myself was a part of the very vibrant Westchester scene that began raging in the late 90’s and played in a few bands during that era. The Lowdown in Mount Vernon was our CBGB’s. Ahh, the memories. And here is Abject, still keeping it alive and well. Make sure you cop their next release, a 7″ entitled “39 Hours in Bronx Central Booking”. Check out this recent interview that In Effect Hardcore did with Jamie and get some insight into the story behind this amazing record. It is a harrowing tale of police abuse and Abject have chronicled it all on this upcoming release. Oh, and check out their latest video for the song ‘Crime Related Art’. Abject were nice enough to include a design I did for the at the end of the video. Thanks, guys! I also want to send a shout out to my new crew Rock Study Industries! Looking forward to the mad alchemy that will ensue! Also want to send a shout out to my new friend, Madem Queen and her crew over at Land Of Coonery. It’s always good to meet fellow travelers in the Arts. Looking forward to sharing, synthesizing, and building together.
Alright, folks. Time for me to head out. I’m at the White Plains Library today. Since it’s Saturday, they are only open till 5pm. Still need to fill out this job application and drop it off. Then I will head on back over to Yonkers to my host’s house and take the couch over for the night. I think I’m going to hit relax mode and just play video games. Perhaps Monuments of Mars? ;)
Until next time,
